Forti goes to school
I haven’t discovered anything new if I said to you that your rucksacks certainly weigh more than they should, right? There are adults that have studied how much the rucksack that we take to school should weigh.
Rucksacks, 10% of your weight
Well, this is what doctors recommend. Your rucksacks shouldn’t weight more than 10% of what you weight. So, if you weigh 15 kilos, that thing that you carry on your back shouldn’t weight more than one and a half kilos. Ah yes! And did you know that if your rucksack doesn’t have wheels, you can put more weight in it?
A good rucksack should…
- Have wide padded straps.
- Have a soft back support as well.
- Have adjustable straps that allow you to carry it around 5 centimetres above your waist.
- Have the heaviest books inside it as close as possible to your back.
So that your back doesn’t hurt
- Carry the rucksack by both straps, one on each shoulder.
- Do exercises, this will help you to strengthen your back muscles.
- Keep you back straight.
- If you need to carry a lot of things, carry some of them in your hands. This will balance the force.
- If you have to bend over to pick the rucksack up, do so by bending your knees instead of bending your back.
- If you are going to stand in one place, take the rucksack off your back and have a rest.
What does Forti carry in his rucksack?
Forti goes to a special school where they teach you to have fun and, you know what? He has a rucksack as well!
The other day, Forti opened his rucksack and he was carrying a lot of things but, of course, he is a big and strong castle. We weighed Forti and his rucksack and found that he obeyed the rules that we have talked about here.
What was Forti carrying in his rucksack? Now I will tell you:
- A book of stories,
- A book with facts about Conil, Grazalema, El Rompido and Marbella to learn hundreds of things about the hotels where he lives.
- A piece of fruit and a juice for his mid-morning breaskfast which, as you know, is very important for growing up big and strong,
- For his packed lunch, the hotel cooks have prepared him a sandwich filled with something delicious, but we don’t know what because it was wrapped up! He also has a chocolate shake for his milk.
- A bottle of water for when he gets thirsty,
- Paper tissues,
- A small pencil case with five coloured pencils, his favourite green crayon, a black pencil, a rubber and a sharpener, so that he can draw whenever he needs to,
- And a present that one of his friends gave him for his birthday!
