In these pages, we are going to tell you about some of the most amusing facts from the world that surrounds us. We are going to split them up into three parts: animal facts, plant facts and another section dedicated to scientific facts.
Animal facts
- Ow, they bite a lot!: I am sure that mosquitoes never stop biting you in summertime. But you should know that only the females bite, because they use the blood as a source of protein to feed their young. The males just eat nectar from plants and other sweet things.
- Dentists would get rich with these guys!: mosquitoes have 47 teeth, the whale shark has more than 4500 and the catfish as 9280.
- The fastest animal in the water is the needlefish, which can reach 68 mph.

Plant facts
- Certainly you have seen a lot of tall trees in our hotels and surrounding areas, but they are nothing compared to the highest tree in history, an Australian eucalyptus that reached a height of 132 metres in 1872.
- Plants are an example of survival. If they don’t get enough water, the roots are capable of looking for water. The roots, for example, of the Garrofer tree can grow up to 15 metres long.
- Cacti are well adapted to places where there is not a lot of rain. They store as much water as they can in reserve in their trunk, they can store as much as 1000 litres. They have spines instead of leaves to avoid evaporation of water.

- Have you ever seen hail? Of course you have. You probably saw that the hailstones are not normally bigger than peas. Well, the largest hailstone fell in Bangladesh in 1986 and weighed 1 kg. Get under cover!
- About good manners: did you know that astronauts can’t burp because the lack of gravity doesn’t allow the gas to be separated from the liquid in their stomachs.
- A little bit of affection: don’t worry if you like kissing, more germs are transmitted by shaking hands than by kissing.
